This series on “Xenogenous and Xeno-synthetic bone substitutes: State-of-the-art and clinical outcomes ” is edited by Dr. Valfrido Antônio Pereira-Filho and Dr. Pedro Henrique de Azambuja Carvalho, São Paulo State University, Dental School of Ara-raquara - UNESP, Araraquara, São Paulo, Brazil. Its main purposes are to review the Xenogenous and Xeno-synthetic bone biomaterials and clinical applications of xenografts, and to highlight the innovations in Xenogenous bone materials.

Pedro Henrique de Azambuja Carvalho, DDS, OMFS, Ph.D

Dr Carvalho is Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon graduated by the Federal University of Pelotas, Brazil. PhD in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery by São Paulo State University – UNESP, Araraquara and was research fellow in the Klinikum of Goethe Universität Frankfurt am Main. Current performing post doctoral Fellowship at UNESP, Araraquara.

Dr. Carvalho is a member of the Brazilian College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, of the European Association for Osseointegration, and member of the Brazilian Society for Research in Dentistry. Author of more than 30 peer-reviewed papers and reviewer of the Annals of Maxillofacial journal and Research Reports in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
